Histopathology refers to the process of examining different tissues to know about the disease and the main cause behind it. The process involves conducting a biopsy. Before starting the examination, the tissue is analyzed and prepared to be treated. Larger specimens include parts or whole organs that are removed at the time of surgery. One example is the uterus after a procedure of hysterectomy.

• Instead of whole organs, small tissues get removed for biopsies.
• Sometimes, small pieces of tissue are obtained via core needle called core biopsy.
